Greetings all!
Our extra meeting on the 6th November was a resounding success. Golden Gavel decided to hold a Speak-A-Thon to allow members to complete assignments. The meeting was very well attended, thank you!
Past Club President Marc was the toastmaster of the day, he kept the meeting running well with a great combination of protocol and fun. The meeting was attended by Taffy, a visiting toastmaster from centurion, Thandwefika, Division L director and our very own Doyenne of the English language, Gaye Nellie, invited a guest to join us so she could experience Toastmasters for herself.
Our very own newly installed S@A delivered a speech reflecting on the qualities of a person, Jarrod handled a PR advanced assignment with his characteristic humour in full force; Enid shared some all important dating advice for those that need it; Mutali shared her varsity experiences as the president of the last minute society and Yoke painted a picture of a bright red strawberry with green tights… Along with all these “regular” speeches, past division governor Eric Kaila told us to “take action and do it for yourself” in his educational presentation.
As per our standard, evaluations were a good mix of an evaluation delivered by the primary evaluator for an assignment and a Round Robin, thus allowing the speaker to have a broader view from the audience. Jabulani advised us, in his evaluation, that with regards to gestures, we should “go big or go home”. The evening concluded with the awards. Mutali was voted as the Best Speaker for the meeting and Thandwefika as the Best Evaluator. Thank you to the committee for putting together such a successful evening!
Next Meeting
Please join us for our final meeting of 2017, it promises to be a spectacular close to the year. It will be taking place at Skoobs in Montecasino and not at our usual professional venue, the Boardroom at Accenture, for which we are very grateful indeed!
